Piece of Health - Official Changemakers Graduate.

At the beginning of the year I (Abbie) got accepted onto the Lewisham Changemakers programme which is a training programme and network which had a massive impact on helping me bring ‘Piece of Health’ CIC to life.

Since coming into the fitness industry 8 years ago my mission was to bring a wellbeing programme to the Lewisham Borough, and working class communities

I spent 7 years working in different gyms, fitness studios, as well as creating a strong fitness community via my own fitness classes but getting the foundations for the vision I had in my mind for all that time wasn’t an easy task.

Then one day last December I saw an ad in the Lewisham Life local magaazine advertising the programme and I just knew i had to sumbit an application. And by January I was sat in Hatcham House surrounded by people who believed in me, and who believed in my vision.

During the 10 week course, I learn’t how to tell my story with pride and with confidence. I learn’t what it took to set up as a CIC, how to apply for funding, how to make my programme sustainable and scalable, whilst meeting a whole new network of friends and like minded people.

Thanks to this ‘Piece of Health CIC’ is now up and running and I am ready to change even more lifes. We have classes being held at the Abbotshall Healthy Lifestyle Cente, Catford and currently working within different organisations teaching seated exercise.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
