Did you know the health and wellness industry is worth over £5 billion yet 40% of adults here in the UK have a chronic illness?

These figures tell me either two things, the first being as humans we do want to get healthy but the options out there are not flexible enough, not welcoming enough, or rely on you following a plan that doesn’t give room or support when life occurs.

The second thing decent options that do deliver results are just to damn expensive. Personally I think it is a bit of both.

My name is Abbie, and to be honest exercise and living healthy never came easy to me. I grew up within a working class family down in the Lewisham Borough. Exercise was something we did at sports day, and then something we dabbled with when New Year came along or a holiday was on the horizon. Exercise wasn’t for us, it was for the atheletes and rich.

Then one day in the pub I got dared to run the London Marathon, and via a charity I got in. What started off as a dare changed my life. Through a structured plan, breaking down goals, and making healthy choices not only did i become fitter, but I realised I suffered with anxiety and depression which was heightend by old lifestyle.

Following my London Marathon journey, I noticed that I had inspired others and wanted to do this for a living. I also wanted to make a change in the industry, as if it wasn’t for the random bet in the pub, I don’t think I would have made this change on my own. I felt the industry was missing something, and with this the Piece of Health programme is born.

I wanted to create a programme that was flexible and worked around busy lifestyles, and catered for all. budgets which is why I have created different options from Personal Training to our Piece of Health community programme. Most of all I wanted to make something that was welcoming and felt accesible to beginners and those who dont necessarily like the gym but want to live a healthy lifestyle.
